Our Values

We want to help see and understand the genuine reality of today's world. We believe that such reflection has fundamental importance for our lives - no matter how different our beliefs and convictions might be.

We respect all people for who they are, and they represent, and we thrive to build relationships based on trust, safety, and wellbeing. Similarly, we believe that a truly human world should be developed within the natural environment, respecting nature and its dignity. Therefore, by reflecting the human world, we will also pay attention to relationships and consequences of our lives on the natural world.

To implement our mission, we established this new media source as a nonprofit and operated by an independent (non-governmental) organization registered in the Czech Republic. Our independence guarantees us the freedom and direct responsibility to only pursue activities that comply with our core goals and values. Moreover, to avoid increasing potential grant-dependence on institutions or private entities, we want to diversify our funding model, primarily focusing on membership revenues. As a grassroots voluntary initiative, we are refusing private investments.

We enable the public and supporters to see and understand how we work by providing information about our activities, funding, and governance in a timely way.

We reflect on the world from a human perspective, with regard and equal respect to each individual person and their situation. We believe that true humanization does not exclude anyone.

To serve all people, regardless of their viewpoints, our mission is primarily to describe the World we live in. We are not to formulate political solutions, evaluate or encourage changes. Therefore, all potential interpretations and opinions will always be presented as nonauthoritative, personal, embedded into a plurality of equally-legitimate outlooks.

Building a new globally accessible platform, we recognize the fundamental importance of partnerships, either financial or media. Still, we collaborate only with those who honestly share our mission and do not request any influence on our content creation. Thus, each strategic partnership must be transparent and respect our independence.

We are a democratically organized and managed organization. All members of Atlas are encouraged to participate in decision making processes, and to provide feedback to their managers. Managers are appointed with the consent of their staff and may be removed by their staff.
